Coconut on the Beach

A beautifull shot taken on one of those virgin Cambodian beaches. When did you guys had you last coconut? I bet it has been a while. It's amazing what you can do with a coconut. Just the drink/food aspect is so large. For those of you who like coconut I advise you to try our coconut dishes, drink a freshly made coconut shake or Pina Colada and some coconut ice cream for dessert. Taste it and like it!

Buffolo’s in the mud

Different country, different habbits. As far as I know we do not have these type of Buffolo in Switzerland so it was quite amusing seeing this plot of Buffolo's take a mud bath. An untrained eye would miss them while walking along the country side as they look quite well camouflaged. With temperatures well over 30 Celsius they use those "bathes" as a cooling system. Additioanly to that once they get out of the mud bath they are covered with mud and that's a kind of sun bloc, suncream for Buffolo... In case somebody is interested to join them for a bit a different bath, let me know...

18.11.2009 – Haensi’s 50th Birthday

A very good evening @ The Look Restaurant. One of our Swiss Expats, Haensi, was celebrating his 50th Birthday and invited even some guys from Pattaya, Thailand. With free Beer and free BBQ we managed the visiting crowd and got drunk even ourselfs. I mean that my staff got hammered and I tried to catch up. Haensi definitely enjoyed his 50th with some big smiles on nearly all pictures we took. On his wish we organised a delicious rum/chocolate cake, that made even the alcohilics happy. We are looking forward to celebrate much more birthdays with Haensi and we thank him for his loyalty. Be safe for another 50 years.

Beat always happy

If there is one person on this planet which does not know the feeling of being sad or angry, then is name is Beat. One of my oldest and loyalist customers. A Swiss Expat staying in Sihanoukville for more then two years now. You know, he is one of them who could not even kill a fly, as he is so gentile. He is still looking for a nice little lady to get married, so ladies, don't wait too long. Beat is also the "House Moving Champion", as he changed his accomondation place 5 times within two years. He is a good feller and somebody you can trust. In case you will ever have the chance to cook some Roesti for him, make sure not to burn them!!

Alex & Jean-Michel

Alex (left), half Spanish half German and Jean-Michel (right) from Belgium. Both of them were working together a couple years in Santa Domingo and as so often in the diving industry. They did not loose contact after this area but projects brought them to different parts of the world, Madagascar for Alex and Bali/Indonesia for Jean-Michel. Anyhow, both of them were good friends of mine as well as we met in Cambodia and they staid quite a while. Many evenings were spent together and some hangovers next day of course as well. With the global downturn both of them decided to leave Cambodia and went on to Bali to create a Snorkelling Business. I hope for both of them that they will be able to succeed despite this bloody global downturn!

Raffi 'the"Yogi

One of our Swiss Expats living in Sihanoukville is Raffi. Used to be a good feller with his own way of thinking and living, fair enough. He spent some time India and discovered Yoga. Kind of liked it and decided to open a Yoga Class in Sihanoukville. As a kind of friend I tried to give him some business advises but he did not really bother about it so I did not insist...anyhow. At the time he was looking for a place to sleep I accomodated him in my house, he had his own room, but things turned bad so he left my house after less then a month, as we had a very nice and fruitfull conversation/confrontation, mornings. Not really the best time to get along with me. Not having respect of other people's privacy and violating my private space are not things I take on the easy way. I whish him good luck for his future.......

Weekly BBQ @ The Look

Since September 2009 every Thursday we are serving a delicious BBQ Buffet. You will find a wide selection of meat and salads. Chicken Brest, Beef Kebab, Merguez Sausages and some great Fish. All that served with a freshly made Vegetable Salad and Potato Salad. Different toppings are available like mustard/peanut sauce. This Cambodian style BBQ Grill has been made by a local ONG involving underpreveliged kids. Very simple system and works very well. For about 3 month the BBQ evening was also a Latino Music evening. With much pressure from Jean-Michel as he was living a couple years in Santa Domingo and overthere there is all about Latino music. Girls do love that music....We are looking forward to many more nice BBQ evenings @ The Look.

Back on the Blog

Hey fellers, it's been a while since my last blog entry.......The high season is getting to an end and tha's one of the reasons why I'm back online. Many things and at the end not enough happened over the last couple month, so I will try and catch up with all those stories. Hope you guys have been doing well for the last month despite Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Terrorist Attacks and the daily controlled life in western countries. Cambodia is such an easy place but most people do not have the "balls" to give it a try. All right, let's get started with some news about The Look Restaurant in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
